CKK Lifeline - Who we are
Written by Suzanne
Wednesday, 12 November 2008

When Lifeline started its Cell gropup structure in 1997, the first place in which we began to meet in small groups was Subang Jaya. Headed by Adrian Ng and meeting in the current SS12 Ministry house, the Cell Group evolved from his Cell Group and got a proper name. Bethlehem was chosen to remember that it was where the cell Group structure was born. In 2003, when Adrian returned, there were 10 working adults in the Cell Group. Since he was employed as a full-time youth minister to reach out to the Subang Jaya youth, we made the transition from a Cell group to a Ministry out of which 3 other Cell groups were born. Each of these would take a bow to the original Cell group and thus Hope of Israel, Light of the Nations and especially City of David bears a Christmas reference.

Unlike SFX, CKK Lifeline meets every Friday and is not connected to LifeTeen Ministry or a LifeMass. Instead, it alternates between its Central Gathering at the Community Centre where we have talks and Praise & Worship; and the Cell Groups where we have Bible Sharing. Each Cell group takes care of specific areas and colleges with 2 specialised Cell Groups for the Working Adults and Music Ministry respectively. While we are a youth ministry, we plan our talks around the Archdiocesan themes and our Bible sharings based on Salvation History, from Adam to Vatican II.

Angela's Testimony: This is my life! Why can’t I take control of it and do what I want?

"The fellowship we have in a cell group is another thing I deeply appreciate. Before coming here, I had only less than 5 friends in school who were of the same faith. So hanging out with Catholic friends who share the same belief wasn’t really a norm for me. Often, they labeled me as being too ‘religious’ just because I prayed before eating! Having a group of catholic friends that I often spend time with is a blessing. There are times when we discuss certain social issues but through a more catholic point of view rather than the way the world sees it. I had times when I was feeling down, and these friends were there to care for me, to lend their ears to me and of course to support me in their prayers. And, they happen to be fun people too, just in case some may perceive them to be a close minded, old-fashioned bunch of people."
